2020: Scandinavian Innovation Award, "CITY SHAPER", Trondheim

In 2019, after winning the first place Project Prize in our Regional FLL Tournament, the team was nominated to the Scandinavian Innovation Award 2020. This means that we got to be one out of 900 teams in Scandinavia who were invited to submit a project abstract to FIRST Scandinavia.

Gifll was one out of 10 teams who were chosen to be present at SIA in Trondheim, Norway! Five people from our team worked with the FLLowShare project, and four of us attended.

All five members prepared a lot before SIA. Among other things, we learned about presentation techniques, and rhetorics from Deborah Cooley from Levvel Health. We also presented our project for our classes, and we got testimonials from people who work in the green economy field and on social projects.

We recorded a video of the fifth member, who could not come to Trondheim, to include in our SIA presentation. We also made a somewhat functioning prototype of the FLLowShare app.

On the 8th February, the four members and some guides and parents went to Trondheim. The next day, we visited Trondheim Science Center and did activities with the other SIA teams. It was an interesting experience. There was a lot to discover and learn, and we had a great time.

During those days we practiced even more and made final adjustments.

The actual competition took place at Equinor Research Center on the 10th February. We came to set up our stand, and then we talked to other teams, and judges who came to our stand.

We also had a mentor to help us be fully ready to present for a jury of judges and all the other teams and their plus-ones.

It was a wild experience talking about our Innovative Project in front of so many strangers, and we learned a lot from it.

We did well, and the founder of FIRST Scandinavia Per-Arild Konradsen chose FLLowShare to mention in his speech. The mentors also all agreed that we had an outstanding project and a very innovative idea and the judges had almost no critique points.
